Pre-School

Welcome to LEAPS! Give your child the gift of school readiness. Our LEAPS program will prepare your child physically, mentally and socially for Kindergarten. Our program has been endorsed by many Kindergarten teachers in the Oroville area. Your child will learn Zoo Phonics, how to write their name, counting to 30 and many other essential Kindergarten readiness skills. Your child will also take part in our RIR program as part of their daily routine. RIR is "Rolling into Reading." It was developed by reading specialist, Debra Wilson, and the OGSA owner/director, Marcia Carter. The program has been proven to help children prepare and excel in reading. Give your child the gift of school readiness skills designed to both stimulate the mind and enrich the body of pre-kindergarten children. With qualified staff and innovative programs, we work with children to prepare them for a school environment. Children must be 4 years of age by Sept 1 of that year. Let your child be LEAPS ahead in Kindergarten at OGSA.

Activities

Children in the LEAPS Program also participate in Developmental Gymnastics where they learn to follow instructions and work together while developing larger motor and coordination skills, balance, body control, special awareness, sequencing, and locomotor movements. Calendar, story time, music, and art activities are also conducted each morning.

Nutrition

The children in our LEAPS burn a lot of energy throughout the day and good nutrition supports successful learning and growth, so a healthy snack is provided mid-morning and afternoon. A nutritious lunch is provided for children staying a full day.

Teachers

The teacher-to-child ratio is 1-10, a lower level than the State requires. This allows ample opportunity for the needs of each child to be met. The LEAPS teachers have all met State requirements for pre-school teachers with college courses in Early childhood Education. Our staff share the philosophy that children learn best in a positive, caring, physically and educationally stimulating environment.
